Vitantonio
Russo (Taranto,
26/08/1932), risiede a
Bari.
Economista/Docente
universitario.
Agli inizi degli
anni '60 pone le basi dell'Economic art: un
insieme di modalità e procedure
(PERCORSI) che gli consentono di
trasferire creativamente nel Sistema dell'Arte il
complesso linguaggio dell'Economia.
Nel 1975, con la
creazione del Nonopiano-Centro Studi di Arte comparata
e ricerche interdisciplinari,
avvia il Percorso dell’Operatore-artistico
che si fa Istituzione come risposta a
G.C. Argan convinto che l’Artista
“può solo esprimere pareri senza che una precisa
funzionalità del suo agire sia richiesta dalla
società”, e come proprio convincimento che l’Artista
possa anche creare momenti di partecipazione attiva per una
crescita auto-conoscitiva.

(Italy)
Economist/Professor
In
the first 60’s he founds ”Economic Art”: a mixture
of ways and procedures (PERCORSI) which
enables him to creatively transfer the complex language of
economics into art system.
In
1975 he opens his Nonopiano, a Centre of
Comparative Arts and interdisciplinary Research, and
starts off the transformation of the artistic operator into a
public institution, objecting to what G. C. Argan
said, “an artist can only express his own personal
opinion without charging his deeds with specific social
connotations”. V. Russo on the contrary was and is
still convinced that the Artist can produce events that stimulate
active participation aiming to self-growth and
consciousness.
